Meal Selection

What types of meals are there?

We offer three types of meal selections. All meals are in the 475-525 calorie range, heart-healthy, and diabetic-friendly.

1) Our Healthy Balance option -- the cornerstone of our offerings -- features a little bit of all the best variety in fresh flavors and lean proteins. Our Healthy Balance meals represent a little personality and flair from each of the food-loving members of our team. Depending on the season, you may see breakfast tacos, shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, beef stir fry, or a classic turkey sandwich – each re-imagined to be healthier and tastier.

2) Our Vegetarian option features creative recipes and plant-based proteins that take center stage with the freshest produce of the season. We love developing menus for our notoriously adventurous vegetarian friends. Whether you love Red Peanut Curry, Raspberry Pancakes, or Falafel with Tzatziki sauce, our meals highlight the best of each season’s flavors.

3) Our Rx meals include mechanical soft and renal options for those with chronic conditions or other health issues who can benefit from eating delicious meals that also meet their condition-specific nutrition criteria. Our home delivery makes it easy and convenient for anyone who may be challenged by shopping, preparing and enjoying meals that are most appropriate for their chronic conditions.

How much do your meals cost?

Our meal prices are dependent on how many meals you order.  They range from $9.50 to  $12.65 per meal.  For more details, check out the PRICE GUIDE.

What are Special Features?

Think of it as our GMM Test Kitchen – a place where you can customize your order with special menu items not available on our regular menu. Enjoy new meals with a little spice. Perhaps a new veggie option. A new downhome favorite. Or occasional new side items. You may also see a meal that used to be on the menu that we’re testing to see if it needs to go back on the menu.

You’ll see this feature under the Special Feature category at the top of the Customized Menu. Simply remove a meal from your cart and replace it with any Special Feature you would like to try. Special Features are only available for a limited time**. Some of your favorites may be added to our regular menu especially if you Rate Your Meal by scanning the QR Code on your meal label. As always, your input is incredibly valuable to us!

**When a Special Feature is no longer available, you'll see a new Special Feature in its place!

Can I eat these meals if I have a food allergy?

If you have a life-threatening food allergy, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross-contamination, and therefore do not recommend you use our meals in your health journey.

However, we will offer you the ability to set dietary preferences so that you can exclude added nuts, shellfish or other items from your menu selections. But again, please note that your meal will be prepared in the same kitchen where these items may be present.

How long will my meals keep?

After our meals are freshly prepared, they are packed with that day’s date and frozen. Frozen meals can be enjoyed within 6 months of pack date printed on the meal cover for best quality.

Is Good Measure Meals a diet?

Though our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists would prefer that we not use the term "diet", Good Measure Meals can help promote weight loss. Since our meals are calorie- and portion-controlled, they can definitely help you meet your individual needs and goals. But in fact, we are the opposite of a diet. We are all about balance and moderation.

It is our hope that you'll use our meals as a tool to help you learn a healthy, balanced way of eating that is sustainable for you over the long haul.

Do you have a plant-based or vegan menu?

We have a large variety of vegetarian options to choose from. We have lacto-ovo vegetarian options (includes milk and eggs), but we do not have vegan options in our meal selection.

Do you have a dairy free menu?

We do not currently have a dairy free menu. We do offer several meals with limited dairy or meals without dairy as a listed ingredient, but please note that all our meals are made in the same kitchen, and we can't guarantee there will be no cross-contamination. To find the meals to best fit your needs, we recommend you schedule a free 10-minute consult with one of our Registered Dietitian Nutritionists for assistance by clicking here.

Once you arrive home, please make sure to unpack and refrigerate all items immediately and enjoy at your convenience.

How do I heat my meals?

We prepare your meals fresh in our kitchen and freeze them for a one-time delivery. When meals arrive, place meals you plan to enjoy within 48 hours in the refrigerator and place all remaining meals in the freezer for safekeeping (meals don’t have to be defrosted in the refrigerator but will reheat more easily).

Microwave instructions:
Heat in the microwave in 30 second increments until food reaches 165°F and is steaming hot (usually 1 – 4 minutes). Click here for detailed instructions.

Oven Instructions:
Preheat to 350 degrees F. Remove meal from tray and place in an oven safe dish and heat until internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F, typically 5—20 minutes. Stir halfway through to ensure even heating. Covering food may also assist with even cooking and retaining moisture. Click here for detailed heating instructions, helpful tips on thawing meals, and information for removing contents that are not intended to be heated.

Can I recycle the packaging materials?

Cardboard, liners, clean plastic trays & film may be picked up via curbside recycling. Each insulated panel will melt under water (video) or can be used as compost after removing it from the plastic sleeve, which itself can be recycled with your plastic shopping bags. After rinsing and drying the plastic trays and film, we recommend dropping those off at Center for Hard to Recycle Materials (CHaRM), located at 1110 Hill Street SE, Atlanta, GA 30315, and open for drop-offs on Tuesdays, Thursdays & Saturdays, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm, by appointment only. Call 404-600-6386 or visit https://livethrive.org/charm/.

Our Social Impact

What is Good Measure Meals?

Good Measure Meals™ is a social enterprise of and is owned by Open Hand Atlanta, Inc. a nationally recognized nonprofit nutrition agency. Good Measure Meals™ offers healthy meals and nutrition education/coaching to its customers, with 100% of our net proceeds going to help support Open Hand Atlanta’s community nutrition programs.

Since 2005, Good Measure Meals has provided sound nutrition in freshly-prepared, ready-to-eat meals that help you meet your individual health and wellness goals, manage your weight or a chronic health condition such as diabetes or hypertension. What's more, we provide the ability to eat in a healthy way without all of the time required to plan, shop, prep, cook and clean.

What is a Social Enterprise?

Social enterprises can take many forms: non-profit, for-profit, or a hybrid model. Social enterprises use these business models to provide goods or services that are focused on creating solutions for some of the world’s toughest social and environmental problems --helping to drive innovation and encourage transformative change on a broader level.

Social enterprises aim to maximize social impact, whereas business enterprises aim to maximize profit.

The primary differentiator between traditional non-profits and social enterprises is the funding model: Non-profits typically earn revenue from grants and donations, whereas social enterprises earn revenue from selling a product or service.

Good Measure Meals is a social enterprise which has a hybrid business model. We sell meal plans, but 100% of our net proceeds go directly to Open Hand Atlanta.

How can I learn more about and further support Open Hand Atlanta?
