How "finding healthy" during COVID-19 quarantine ended up looking a lot like setting boundaries with time for Dietetic Intern Aubrey Allred.
During the past 12 months, the pandemic has created an exponential increase in the demand for meals for Open Hand Atlanta's vulnerable clients. Fortunately, due in part to the additional resources redirected from our Good Measure Meals brand to our nonprofit operations, and all that we have learned in our 33 years of meeting the critical needs of our community, we did not let our clients down. Open Hand once again innovated to not only stay operational in the face of incredible challenges, but grow our capacity to take on whatever challenges lie ahead.
This meant, among other changes, streamlining our operations, expanding our delivery infrastructure, and enhancing our ability to work and provide nutrition services virtually. It also meant producing hundreds of thousands of additional meals for our community's most vulnerable, food insecure individuals.
We are especially proud of what we have accomplished together. So much so that we are now at a point where we are comfortable announcing the spring relaunch of Good Measure Meals. Who could have imagined that a temporary suspension would ultimately mean 12 long months? But we are blessed to have been able to navigate the hurdles in our way and look forward excitedly to being able to serve our Good Measure Meals customers once again -- it can't come soon enough!
