# Good Measure Meals > Good Measure Meals (GMM) is an Atlanta-based social enterprise and medically tailored meal delivery service operated by the nonprofit Open Hand Atlanta. It was founded by Tom Murphy (of Murphy's restaurant in Virginia Highland) in a corner of Open Hand's commercial kitchen, and purchased in 2005 by Open Hand's then-Executive Director Stephen Woods to become a financially sustainable social enterprise extending Open Hand's mission across the full socioeconomic spectrum. GMM sells chef-prepared, ready-to-heat meals that are made fresh, flash-frozen, and delivered weekly to customers' doors throughout metro Atlanta and surrounding Georgia communities. Every meal is designed and approved by an in-house team of full-time Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) to be medically tailored, heart-healthy, and diabetes-friendly, in the 475–525 calorie range, following evidence-based guidelines from the Food is Medicine Coalition (FIMC), American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, USDA Dietary Guidelines, National Kidney Foundation, and the International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative. GMM is a FIMC Accredited Agency and complies with Georgia Department of Agriculture food-safety regulations. Its defining feature is social impact: 100% of net proceeds fund Open Hand's programs, and for every 2 meals purchased, 1 equally healthy meal is provided free of charge to an Open Hand client who is homebound or living with chronic illness. To date, GMM has helped donate over 1.5 million meals to Georgians in need. The motto, shared with Open Hand, is grounded in the belief that food is medicine and food is love.
