| Filling and Satisfying | This is my fourth day and I just want to say a resounding THANK YOU!!!! I would never have guessed that 1200 calories could be so filling and so satisfying..(how can I have the traditional turkey sloppy joe lunch daily?). It's a great program and one that I foresee being able to stay on long term.
~ Edith Biggers, MD - Atlanta | | Drop from a 38 pants waist to 33! | I always ate the right foods and exercised 3-4 times weekly, but I was simply taking in too many calories. At 1200 calories a day, with the same amount of exercise, I was able to shed the pounds around my waist, and drop from a 38 pants waist to a 33!
With the Good Measure Meals program, it was easy to ensure that I was taking in the right number of calories per day. It took a little over a month to get adjusted to the new daily calorie intake, but after 3 months, I could never go back to eating the amount of food I was eating prior to the Good Measure Meals program. At this point, I know how much food is the right amount of food to eat. So why stay on the program after losing the weight? Easy, the food is great!

| | Thank You Good Measure Meals | I wanted to take a moment to provide some feedback regarding my
experience with your service. I was told of Good Measures by my
doctor, who has been trying for over a year to keep me off of
cholesterol medication. I knew I needed to make some changes to both
my diet and lifestyle, but none of my half-hearted, uninformed
efforts made my numbers budge. Finally, I decided to take my doctor's
advice and try Good Measures for six weeks.
I could go on about the quality, variety, taste and freshness of your
meals but I want to focus on the results. Suffice it to say it was
easy to keep to this meal plan, and aside from evening sweets
cravings (which were caused more by habit than hunger, and subsided
after a few weeks when replace with healthy snacks) I never once felt
deprived. My family and friends were skeptical, but soon couldn't
argue with the results I was getting by sticking to the Good Measures
plan. If my appearance, attitude and energy levels didn't convince
anyone, the hard numbers left no room for doubt:
Weight before: 212, after: 197
Total cholesterol before: 219, after 164... Without medication!
LDL before 135, after: 90
HDL before 49, after 56
Triglicerides before: 173, after: 92
(After six weeks on the 1200+snack plan, 39 year-old male, moderate
exercise.)
An unexpected benefit of this plan was the complete elimination of
heartburn! I used to regularly be awakened by heartburn at night, and
would often chew antacids during the day. I was pleasantly surprised
to realize by the third week that I hadn't needed antacids once, and
now I'm thrilled that in two months I'm still 100% free of any
heartburn pain. I think I can safely use any recurrence of heartburn
as an indicator that I need to reevaluate my diet.
Under different circumstances, I would have no qualms about staying
with Good Measures indefinitely. But for now, as I rejoin my family's
mealtime, I'm taking what I learned from this experience and -- with
a lot of help, research and meal planning -- helping them get on
track to better health too. I'm still working on improving my weight
and cholesterol, but now I know it's a lifestyle and not a diet, and
I won't hesitate to use Good Measures again if I ever feel I need to
get back on track. I also don't hesitate to recommend Good Measures
to anyone who asks me how I managed to slim down. (And have referred
one new customer so far. :-)
I'd also like to comment on how easy it was to work with you folks. I
was worried about getting my meals delivered on time while they were
still fresh but it turned out not to be a problem at all. Your
delivery person, Charlie, happily worked with the mail-room folks at
my office so that all I had to do was drop off my empty cooler-bag in
the morning and pick up the full bag in the afternoon. I only wish
grocery shopping could be that easy!!
And if anyone has trouble justifying the cost of Good Measures meals,
I can tell them from my experience that much of the expense over the
normal cost of food was offset by:
1. A decrease in the amount of pocket cash I normally burnt through
buying lunches, snacks and junk food during the day.
2. The amount of free time saved from shopping, cooking and (as I'm
learning now) proper meal planning, and time really is money.
3. A dramatic reduction in the amount of money I spend at the local
coffee shop, since I no longer depend on caffeine for energy. Without
any prior intention, conscious effort or withdrawals, I just don't
drink as much coffee. I calculate that I now spend only a quarter of
the amount I used to spend at the evil coffee empire... which for me
works out to an extra $1,200+ more in my pocket annually!
4. After my latest cholesterol test, I can wholeheartedly say the
health benefits MORE than justify any added expense.
5. The profits support a very worthwhile cause: Project Open Hand.
Thank you Good Measures!
Sincerely,
Patrick Pepin
| | I want to thank you for your service over the last year. | Last (2005) Christmas I went on a vacation amd I am not used to having photographs made of me. When we got home and developed the pictures, I was astonished to realize the fat girl in the pictures was me.
I found out about your program through a colleague and I began doing it around January. I have been doing it for about one year and I would like you to know I have lost from a size 12 to a size 4. I have never felt better in my life. It has been extremely convenient and easy to do. I have also learned about portions and calories. I want to thank you very much for the service you have provided to me and I highly recommend your program to other people.
~Diane L. Wisebram - Atlanta See actual correspondence | | I researched every diet delivery company on the Internet. | I've been a customer of Good Measure Meals for almost a year now. I attempted to diet on my own with frozen diet meals. After a few months, my aesthetician commented that my skin was not looking as good as it normally does. She asked what I had been eating and I told her frozen diet meals. She scolded me but explained that I don't like having to prepare low calorie meals and really don't like leftovers when I was the only one dieting. After visiting my hair stylist the next month, she said my hair didn't look healthy, she then asked what had I been eating. I told her frozen diet meals. She explained that fresh nutrients care vital to hair growth, shine and texture. After that I swore off frozen diet meals and researched every diet delivery company on the internet. Good Measure Meals was one of the very few companies that delivered FRESH prepared low calorie meals, and at less than half the cost of others. The next time I saw my aesthetician and stylist 6 weeks later both said, without me telling them I had switched to Good Measure Meals, 'you started cooking'!"
~Samantha Lanphere - Atlanta | | I look forward to every meal now | "I haven't done Good Measure in a few months, so I was blown away by the changes you've made. I look forward to every meal now. About 2 years ago, I suffered a stroke that left me in a wheel chair. I had no idea how cruel a wheel chair could be to a figure. Good Measure is allowing me to make healthier choiced so that I can hopefully get rid of some of this unwanted weight.
Thank you for everything. I'm proud to tell everyone I know about you."
~Susan Kendall - Atlanta | | I am a 'sweetie' due to diabetes, | and have been unable to control my blood glucose count for the past year. Sandy Gillespoe at Piedmont Diabetes Center told me about your program at my last meeting with her.
I realized that part of the problem I was experiencing was due to my diet. I resented having to spend the time required to shop and prepare the type of foods I need, so often I would not plan meals but just 'snack'. The times I did prepare my food, or stop at one of the local take-out places that offer 'healthy' choices, I would feel better after having that meal.
Since starting the Good Measure program a month ago, I've been abl to maintain my blood glucose within my target range resulting in more energy, and the peace of mind that I'm doing everything within my power to control my disease. Some would say that having meals delivered is a 'luxury' and I should certainly be able to prepare my own food. I view Good Measure Meals as another tool to help me be as healthy as possible. Thank you Good Measure Meals,
